    Do not use Small Chef ! Very Very unprofessional they will promise the world and deliver nothing. Its not worth the DRAMA. Meet her for yourself the presentation speaks for itself. Don't be suckered in for the lower price ... she will bait and switch you at the last minute when you don't have a chance to make other arrangements.

    After a couple of bad experiences with the few caterers in town, I heard about Jennifer. She came highly recommended and her menus looked awesome, so I got in touch with her and she responded really quickly. We discussed a menu and she promised to get back to me with a quote. Two months later, after her losing the menu we'd talked about, I finally got a very generic quote. Not sure why that took two months to get together, but it did. I emailed asking for clarification and didn't get a response. After 9 days of waiting for more information on a quote I'd requested two months before, I was done. I'd lost all faith. I emailed her telling her we were making other arrangements, and guess what? She responded immediately! The impression that I got isn't that she's incapable, but that she's overwhelmed by her booming business. Hire some freaking help already. What a huge waste of energy.

    I really wish I could give a review of the food but alas I can't. I am reviewing based on customer service or technically - LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I sent a request via email on Tuesday. By Monday of the following week, I called her to check and see if she received the request for a quote. She was very short on the phone with me. She told me she was very busy yes she received my info and acted as if I was being a nuisance by checking to see if she received my request for a quote. She said she would get back to me by Friday. I saw ok no problem, I just wanted to verify she received my info because sometimes when you send a request over a website, it doesn't go thru. So Friday comes along... nothing. Monday comes along.... nothing. Tues, Wednesday, Thursday - the same. Nothing. Friday I send a note. I was just letting her know I booked a site and was worried because I needed quotes for the wedding to see if it was within our budget. I had a small window of opportunity and needed to send in a deposit or they wouldn't hold the site for me. Nothing. Still today - several days later. I called back, and emailed and she doesn't returnmsgs or send quotes. So now, I had two weeks to lock in numbers, etc to make sure I could afford the location we wanted in Key West. This is all remote, so it's hard trying to plan a destination wedding and reception and vendors won't return your call. So I am moving on and pretty disappointed.

    I'll start by saying that the staff provided for my wedding was absolutely wonderful. Jennifer was nothing short of a monster. I had an genuine concern that my guests were all going to get sick from eating the food provided. Bless her staff for being able to put up with such a trainwreck of a personality. Below are transcipts of some of the emails that occured between myself and Jennifer. Unfortuantely, I didn't record the phone conversations for all to hear the tone of voice this woman spoke to me in. Imagine Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, meets Christian Bales on set meltdown meets estrogene. The emails speak for themselves. Sept 24th: FIRST contact requesting a menu and if she was available for my date. She was. October I sent her a contact through her website. Never heard back. December 22nd: Sent her another contact through her website. My date is booked after she verbally confirmed with my husbands mother. January 12th: my husbands mother contacts Jennifer and suddenly the date is open again. I cancel our backup plan. She receives a deposit. Feb 4th: Contact Jennifer with menu completely picked out. Feb 13th I sent an email contacting her about a quote and my concern for our quickly approaching date. Feb 25th: I sent ANOTHER email about our quote. Feb 26th: finally got a quote that said: "Here you go. Let me know if it's a go or I need to tweak it. Thank you." Feb 26th: I replied: "What do we need to cut out to get closer to $2500? We are close, I just would like to keep it as close to $2500 as possible." March 5th I received from her: "Not sure what you'd like to do about this. It's pretty cut and dry. Let me know if you have any suggestions.." ----- this is not my responisbility. March 5th I replied with a request to see the price breakdown of the items. March 5th she replied with: "They are your high priced items and I have still given you a great deal. If you want to do more vegetarian things, let me know." March 5th I replied: "I'm not looking to re-do anything on our menu, I'm just trying to figure out why these prices aren't matching. If you give me the $35PP price (even though its only a $140 difference) I was expecting, that puts us closer on budget for our alcohol that we are supplying. March 5th: she asked for the time of the event. I replied: "6-10. Sorry, I thought I gave it to you. If we absolutely have to cut something from the menu, then we can. I just want to get this aspect complete. Thanks for your patience and help." March 6th reply to above: " I gave you a great price for a substantial amount of food. Your guests will go away hungry at $35 a head. I should be charging about $50 a head for this or more. Tell me what you'd like to cut and don't blame the caterer when the guests start mumbling about the lack of food. I am not sure how you think you will fill up your guests on $35 a head when 4 items are seafood. Please advise." My reply: "To be frank, I don't really appreciate attitude I feel like I'm receiving from you. I had never been given any of this information previously. I didn't know there was a difference between a dinner size appetizer and the appetizer party, but now that I do I understand the price difference and are more inclined to pay more." along with more about providing payment to her. March 9th: "How would you like me to send payment to you?" March 11th: "I sent you an email Saturday regarding how we are paying you for our catering. If you could please let me know what we need to do." March 12th, her reply: "Please wire into my account and add $12 for wiring fee from my end. Call me for bank info." One minute later: "Today please. It's way too late for anything else." I called and what a JOY it was speaking to her on the phone. She also didn't provide me with the correct information to make the payment. 1:14am March 13th, I finally had access to the internet to make the transfer, they don't allow to do it from your mobile app. I find out I'm missing key information. I send her: "I need to know the address to the account for the transfer. I don't want to enter anything wrong for fear that it might cause the transfer to cancel. Also, is it a checking account or savings account? Please let me know." March 13th, her reply: "Stop emailing me and call me. This is seriously overdue and I am not happy to begin with. This needs to go through today with a confirmation number!" I ended up paying a $25 transfer fee, as well as contacting my bank multiple times to MAKE SURE that the transfer went through without a hitch. All of this could have been avoided had she not taken SO LONG to reply to my requests. She insisted on me calling her, but I had called her 4 times from September to February and spoke to her one time on the phone. I was getting replies from emails, so WHY THE F would I not continue to email her to get a reply? I really wish we had spent our money elsewhere with someone who appreciates their customers and provides the same food.

    I feel the same as the other people who have reviewed this company! They replied back right away saying they would quote me...NADA! After 2 weeks i reached out to follow up and I was told they were very busy, but would send me a quote before end of week. RIEN! Never heard back...two weeks later i sent an email saying i would love to consider them but that i needed to get a quote, because it had already been a little over month since i requested the quote. They sent a vary vague quote, without descriptions. Moral of the story...even if they have good food...out of principal, i would never hire them. Their customer service SUCKS!
